HILLCLIMBING PR, programme production and photography Simon McBeath works
for the Gurston
Down Hillclimb near Salisbury in Wiltshire as Press Officer
for the organising club, the British Automobile Racing Club (South Western
Centre), publicising and reporting events in the local media, designing and producing programmes for the club's eight events
throughout the Gurston season (April to September), and providing previews and reports for the club's web site News page. Photography at Gurston is an integral part of the above roles, and in 2009 Simon and his wife Tracey Inglis launched their own web-based photo gallery, Everley Photography, displaying a wide variety of images. From the start of the 2010 season we have been uploading photos of virtually every car at every Gurston meeting. Please visit And if you would like to see images of a particular car from earlier years back to 2001 (when we went digital) please email us from the Everley Photography web site, giving details of the car's competition number and the event date, and we will send you some proofs to peruse. |

Hillclimb
School Instruction
Simon
is also one of the four MSA-approved Instructors at the Gurston Down Hillclimb
Drivers’ School. "As a former (and I hope, future...) hillclimb competitor,
I hope my 25+ years of successful competition in speed hillclimbs all over
the UK mainland will enable me to help newcomers and experienced hillclimb
competitors alike to enjoy their sport even more. Gurston
Down has been my local (and favourite) venue throughout my hillclimbing
career, and I held the class record for up to 2 litre single
seat racing cars for several years. I have also driven a wide variety of cars in most categories
from Minis to unlimited capacity single seaters up the hill. Hopefully I can assist fellow enthusiasts to reach the finish
at Gurston a little sooner than they might otherwise have done, or at the
very least, to ensure they maximise their fun on the way!" |
